Ossip Optometry approached this
design-build general contractor with the idea
to re-design their flagship store. Having operated
in this location since Nineteen Seventy, this
well respected Indianapolis business needed to
update their facility and bring a fresh look to
their street façade, while retaining the
integrity of the neighborhood architecture. The
challenge was to completely demolish and rebuild
their three thousand square foot sales floor,
lab and contact lens dispensing facility in twenty-seven
calendar days, while maintaining regular store
and patient operations during construction. One
of several key components was the fabrication
of seventy linear feet of custom display cabinets,
which were installed two days after start of on-site
work. Walls, bulkheads and soffits were framed
to the display cabinets to provide a seam-free
built-in appearance. The final result was a class
“A” space that blends in with the
character of the trendy shopping district of Broad
Ripple village.
